Whimbrels pass through our area in fair numbers during spring and autumn, but rarely seem to land, with most records referring to birds flying over. This individual was probably present all day at Deeping Lakes, found by Will Bowell in the afternoon, it eventually came right up to the main track allowing for excellent photo opportunities.

An influx of this continental race of Yellow Wagtail has taken place in the recent days in the UK. This bird was hanging around with British Yellow Wagtails and Pied Wagtails on the Sluice at the Dog in a Doublet over the Easter weekend.

Scandinavian Rock Pipit at Baston & Langtoft GP

Scandinavian Rock Pipits that have wintered on the British coast move north, inland on their way back to the continent at this time of year meaning Pipit flocks are well worth searching. This bird was in the same flock as a summer plumaged Water Pipit.

A superb find for Josh Jones on his local patch. This species is a rare visitor to the Deepings area and one in summer plumage is quite something.
