© Peter Beesley
A record (for the site) 37 Red-crested Pochard was counted at these gravel pits on Sunday by Josh Jones. These excellent flight shots by Peter deplict what beautiful creatures they are.

Shag at Dog in a Doublet

© Kevin Durose
This amazing shot of the Shag shows it successfully bagging what appears to be a Flounder. Click it for a bigger version.

Having got the shout from Jonathon I eventually found this bird fishing on the bridge side of the lock. The lower picture give a size comparison between the two 'makes'. Notice the Shag's pretty jewellery. Max

Shag at Dog in a Doublet

Jonathan found this immature at the prime location for Shags in the PBC area. This is most likely the bird seen heading this way at Ring's End the day before.

The green colour ring on it's left leg with the white letters CPL identify it as a bird ringed in the nest (in a brood of one) on the Isle of May in the Firth of Forth on 11th July 2006.

Shag at Ring's End

© Will Bowell
This immature Shag was first located at 08.25 by Mike Weedon and Will Bowell, as they were on their way to Norfolk, crossing the Nene at Guyhirn on the A47, with Ray Bowell. It was then watched swimming and eventually flying south-west at 08.35 upstream along the Nene, when it was lost to view.
