Osprey at Eldernell Pit, 20.9.08

This juvenile male Osprey was found in mid-September and apparently hung around for at least a month. Reports of Osprey were regular from Eldernell and at King's Dyke. However, in late October, it became clear that the King's Dyke bird was ringed (with a metal ring on its left leg; click it for a bigger version). But as you can see on this shot of the Eldernell bird, it was apparently unringed. So, this part of the Nene valley was most likely visited by at least two lingering Ospreys, this autumn.
